September has many opportunities both for individuals and for groups to apply for possible exhibitions with Jazzercise and the City of Encinitas.

US Sand Sculpting Challenge & 3D Exposition - Labor Day Weekend- San Diego

Hundreds of thousands have come each year to see master-class sculptors build beautiful 3-dimensional works of art. Now many of the world's finest artists will come to create the most amazing sculptures ever. And they'll do it on a unique site with our beautiful bay on the West and downtown's sandcastles in the sky on the East. New Reception for the Etch & Sketch - Extended Solo Exhibit with Howard Purnell at DEMA and First Street Gallery

"Etch and Scratch" extended... at DEMA and First Street Gallery, Encinitas.    A solo exhibit, featuring the art of Howard Purnell. “Etch and Sketch” is the first solo show for Howard and will feature 30+ etchings, 15+ scratch boards and numerous linoleum cuts. Howard is a fourth generation artist from his mother’s side. He has been a printmaker for over 30 years and winning multiple awards. His love of the ocean and surfing, the outdoors and wildlife, are very much reflected in his imagery. 

   

Located at 818 and 820 S. Coast Hwy. 101, in the D.E.M.A. Building and  First Street Gallery.  A reception will be held this Saturday, September 28th from 5 to 8 P.M.. Come to the reception, Howard looks forward to meeting new people whom enjoy art.     Enjoy and  support your fellow artist.     

The show runs through October 2013.

Silent Beauty marches in California 100th Womens Suffrage Parade, Balboa Park, August 2013

CALIFORNIA CENTENNIAL SUFFRAGE PARADE -

WASHINGTON - One hundred years ago this Sunday, more than 5,000 women marched in Washington for voting rights. The 1913 women's suffrage parade was a turning point in the fight for women to win the right to vote, leading eventually to the 1920 passage of the 19th Amendment. 

Marching with the Art Miles Mural Project in Balboa Park, the canvas-Silent Beauty will be alongside at Balboa Park, before leaving for the United Nations in New York and onto Paris.

The march will go across the Laurel Street Bridge to the Spreckles Organ Pavilion. Stay for the free concert and picnic on the lawn.  March to the best of the Women Drummers of San Diego.

Call for Artists - Carlsbad ArtSplash Chalk Art and Entertainment Festival - Coming in September

September 28, 10 am-6 pm; September 29, 10 am-5 pm

The iconic ArtSplash chalk art and entertainment festival rolls into Carlsbad on September 28-29.Set against a scenic backdrop of the Pacific on Armada Drive, family-friendly ArtSplash offers free parking, free admission and free ‘n’ easy access to a multitude of  things to do, see and create, including chalk art, live music, street entertainment, fine art vendors, sand sculpting, artist-painted skateboard silent auction, fab food (including Saturday’s Taste@ArtSplash), a children’s area, and – new this year – a Sunday hot rods and muscle cars show plus pro skateboard demos throughout the weekend. Exhibit Fee & Booth Details: Booth spaces are 10' x 10'. The exhibit fee for the weekend is $275.00. Payment must be received in full with application by September 1st, 2013.  After the cut-off date, a $50.00 fee will be charged for late entries. You will be responsible for supplying your own exhibit set up (a 10'x10' white booth). All artists will be responsible for delivery, handling, set up and removal of their displays and materials. Each approved vendor will receive two vendor passes. These passes will be sent upon your acceptance. NO FEES WILL BE REFUNDED AFTER APPROVAL OF APPLICATION.

5th Dimension exhibit featured at "Cruising the Art Scene" August 22nd in Carlsbad

The 4th Thursday of August is fast approaching, and The Oceanside Art Gallery will open its special show 5th. Dimension, featuring new 3-dimensional metal sculptures by Paul Weber and 2-dimensional paintings by Carrie Ventola.Additional new works by Mary Villela, B.A Stuber, Kene Lohmann and Joe Villela will also be shown.
