The Mind’s Eye of Dusty Wynne

Presented by the E101 Gallery at E101 Mainstreet Association hosts Photographer, Dusty Wynne, December 19 – Jan 23, 2015

Dusty Wynne, a San Diego north county native is passionate about sharing the beauty of this area through photography. He awes at the diversity of wildlife that San Diego County has to offer, along with its history and local landmarks.  Dusty has been capturing images through photography for over 30 years, and was fortunate enough to travel with medical teams to Cambodia and photograph their work and ministry to some of the poorest people in world.  His photos were published in Calvary Chapel Magazine 2009 “Cambodia - from Killing Fields to Harvest Fields”

Currently a student at Palomar College for photography, he loves shooting digital. “The digital darkroom gives me the opportunity to experiment with my images and give them an interesting new artistic twist”, states Dusty.
His work is versatile and broad in scope.  He has an incredible eye for photographing what most people do not see.

The exhibit will be up from December 19th until January 22, 2015 at the E101 Gallery located at the E101 Mainstreet Association at 818 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA  92024.  Stop in and view the art of Dusty Wynne.

STRATA DARK and LUMINATIONS by Jenessa Goodman at the LUX, November 6, 2014

STRATA DARK and LUMINATIONS - Paintings and Drawings
by Jenessa Goodman

Opening Reception, November 6, 6-8pm.  Exhibit dates October 30 – December 11 at the LUX Art Institute, Education Pavilion.

My artwork is the result of lots of gathering. I take textures and geometry from nature, then reinvent and dissolve them. I find images in dreams and archetypal mythology. I study plants, colors, and patterns of human movement. I rely on synesthesia and I allow myself a free hand with the exploration of images. A lot of my work is simply intuitive. For me creating art is making an offering to something larger than myself, an offering to collective human experience or a homage to the mystical and spiritual aspects of everyday life.

I’m inspired by the concepts of micro and macro as they relate to nature and to human consciousness. My work often visually documents the movement of a tiny speck as it grows into a field of pattern. Repetition pulses through the composition then changes into something new. Matter is balanced with nothingness. Looming shapes blossom from clouds, and ferocious (or are they playful?) animals make appearances. Dreams fascinate me, as does Jungian psychology and the concept of a collective unconscious. I’ve always had an active, vivid dream life, and images from dreams frequently find their way into my work. Through art, I seek to strengthen the links between different realities.

I primarily use ink and gouache on large pieces of watercolor paper. Gouache has a seductive purity of pigment, and the precision of ink balances bold colors. Most of my paintings are fairly large – up to three feet by four feet. Working on this scale allows me to create a sense of atmosphere.  jenessagoodman.com

Richard Hawk, New workshops beginning November 2014

Richard Hawk Workshops at Element Twenty Nine

News -A new run of painting workshops beginning in November. They will be held at Element Twenty Nine Gallery on Coast Highway 101 in the Leucadia area of Encinitas. It's a nice, high-ceilinged space just a few blocks from downtown Encinitas and Moonlight Beach. Richard's work is featured on the walls and it is a very pleasant and conducive painting/learning environment.

Please join in for one of the weekday - or, now by popular demand - weekend - workshops.

Click here to see workshop dates and reserve your space.

The workshops feature specific learning experiences and all are steeped in the idea of learning specific ways of painting fluidly and freely from your intuitive core. That idea has been central to the workshop teaching I have done over the last 15 years, and continues today.

A Charity Auction Opportunity for Artists
Email For Details To: Julie Weaverling at: JWEAVERLING@frontporch.net
The San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO) will be hosting an upcoming charity auction. CECO is a non-profit, employee-managed organization that raises money to support local non-profit agencies and eligible employees in need, and they are holding a silent auction in October as part of their annual fundraising campaign.  The organization would love to have artwork of all types and price ranges donated to be part of this event.  All items donated will be listed online so that all of their nearly 15,000 employees will be able to participate in the silent auction. Since 1956, CECO has distributed millions of dollars to non-profit agencies in support of a variety issues impacting the San Diego community including homelessness, veterans in need, at-risk youth and the Access and Functional Needs populations.
