Bring on Summer! Any piece that features the color "cream" or that celebrates summer in San Diego is eligible.

E L I G I B L E  M E D I U M S
All 2-dimensional art welcome and any 3-dimensional artwork that fits on a pedestal. Photography and journal pages are also welcomed if prepared for hanging.

All art must be ready-to-hang. Please affix two D-rings on the back of your work as the gallery utilizes a wire hanging system.

Enter via Eventbrite online HERE (choose the ticket that best fits the number of entries you have). Then you may submit your art digitally online or drop off in-person (see dates below). Accepted artists will be notified after the jurors have made their decisions.

Annual CALL FOR ARTISTS, Front Porch Gallery

PROSPECTUS

Front Porch Gallery, a non-profit gallery in Carlsbad will be holding its annual juried exhibition and invites artists to participate. This is an open exhibition with no specific theme. We are looking for all expressions across mediums.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all artists 18 years of age and older living or working in San Diego County.

EXHIBITION DATES
July 15 – September 8, 2018
Opening Reception with live music and hors d’oeuvres: July 15, 2018 noon-2pm

SUBMISSION DEADLINE
June 12, 2018, 11:59 p.m. PST

AWARDS
1st: $350 (winning image will be used as the cover image for the next year’s postcard), 2nd: $200, 3rd: $100, $35 each for 3 Honorable Mentions. Recipients will need to complete a W-9 to receive payment.

SUBMISSION PROCESS
All entries will be submitted electronically at www.OnlineJuriedShows.com.

- Entry form must be filled out in its entirety. List sizes up to the nearest inch. Submitted images must not include matting or frame. Crop the photos to include only the artwork. Be sure your images are right-side-up.

- Before uploading your images, make sure they are smaller than 4MB, but at least 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Images should be in JPEG format, sRGB color space. Help in photographing your work and properly sizing your images can be found at: www.OnlineJuriedShows.com/help.aspx. $35 for 3 entries. Entry fees non-refundable, must be paid by the entry deadline. Acceptance is not guaranteed. After you’ve submitted, continue to checkout, pay through PayPal or with a credit card, and receive your receipt.

EXHIBITION GUIDELINES
- All 2D and 3D media considered. Artwork must have been created within past 3 years.
- Artwork must be original and not previously exhibited at Front Porch Gallery.
- Artwork must be ready to hang with proper hanging device. No saw tooth hangers.
- Artwork must be for sale. Gallery retains 40% commission on sales.
- Size of work limited to 40” on length side, 72” on height side -including frame.
- For this exhibition we are looking for artwork that includes all themes of expression. Suitable for general public.
- Artwork must be labeled on the back with artist’s name, title, medium, size and price.
- Artwork must remain in the gallery for the entire exhibition, unless sold.
- Accepted Artists must complete the Consignment Agreement.
- Commissions are paid within 30 days of sale. A W-9 is required for payment. - Entering this juried exhibition acknowledges the right of Front Porch Gallery to use your image(s) for publicity purposes for this event.

CALL FOR ARTISTS- LUX Art Institute - Art Inspired by Fashion

ART INSPIRED BY FASHION

Deadline to submit: Tuesday, May 15th 

Five artists will be selected to exhibit during Lux Art Institute’s ART COUTURE event and given the opportunity to submit an art piece for competition. Winner will be featured at this year’s Fashion Week San Diego. Finalists will be featured June 23rd during our ART COUTURE event and will be exhibited in our studios.

ALL MEDIUMS! Please submit 2-3 examples of your work to artists@luxartinstitute.org. Work doesn't necessarily need to reference fashion.

CALL FOR ARTISTS - Performing Arts Workshops - FIRST FRIDAYS, Encinitas

Performing Arts Workshop (PAWS)


UP FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT? Performing Arts Workshop in Encinitas hosts a monthly event called 'First Fridays,' which brings in artists, dancers, and musicians in order to raise money to create a black box performance space in North County. We have are looking for artists for the following dates: April 6, May 4, June 1.

Here are a few questions and answers you might have:

How is the art presented/what is the staging for their artwork?
Visual artists present their art for viewing between performances. It is staged in the hallway and studios at Performing Arts Workshop. Typically, artwork is hung on the walls or tacked up, depending on how the artist wants to display. Artists may bring their own structure to display large photos (like large style easels).

Are the artists present at the event?
The artists should be present at the event to take part in the evening as a networking opportunity. The artists get free refreshments and the opportunity to meet other artists, dancers, and musicians as well as patrons who attend the event.

What are the hours?
8pm - 10pm, every first Friday of the month.

Is the art a donation?
No. It is displayed during the event and then they may take it back home. Artists are welcome to put prices on it to sell. It is an unpaid opportunity but a chance for upcoming artists to get exposure.

OUT OF BOUNDS, an Exhibition by Cheryl Ehlers Cardiff by-the-Sea Library

Stop by and see Out of Bounds, by Cheryl Ehlers.

“Out of Bounds” was chosen for a solo art exhibition, April 2 – June 30, 2018 at the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library in Cardiff, CA. Cheryl Ehlers who is known for her dynamic and colorful acrylic paintings, will display a new abstract collection.

The Cardiff-by-the-Sea Library showcases local artists, 4 times during the year, and is active in the community presently numerous programs for residents. Curated by Susan Hays, the Library is located at 2081 Newcastle Ave, Cardiff, CA 92007, 760-753-4027.

JAN 20 - LOS ANGELES BALALAIKA ORCHESTRA in Encinitas

"Musically superb!" ~Los Angeles Times.

The Los Angeles Balalaika Orchestra consists of 40 talented musicians who are interested in Russian folk instruments and their unique sound. The Orchestra prepares new material each year and performs an annual full concert in Los Angeles and San Diego. Featured artists are brought by the Orchestra from Kiev, Moscow, or St. Petersburg, Russia, and also include world class artists who now live in the Southern California area. The concert will also feature traditional Russian folk dancers and the gifted soprano Anna Belaya. 

The orchestra's professional directors and arrangers are Iryna Orlova and Anatoliy Mamalyga. Both are graduates of the famed Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music formerly known as the Kiev State (Tchaikovsky) Conservatory.

Proceeds from the concert will assist in the purchase of a concert grand piano for the Encinitas Community and Senior Center, for new artistic programming. For more information, please contact Jim Gilliam.

Encinitas Holiday Parade Judges Needed, DEC 2


Here is a chance to be part of the community in the Encinitas Holiday Parade celebrating the Arts!

We are looking for 4-5 judges and I was hoping to have artists judging art versus untrained eyes.

The Parade:

Saturday December 2nd (this Saturday)
5:30pm - 7:15(ish)
Downtown Encinitas/101

Judges:
1. Arrive at the Lumberyard Grandstands no later than 5pm (next to Starbucks and St. Tropez)
2. Judge each of the entries as they go by based on a very simple judging scale (5:35-7:15pm)

You will receive:
1. Free VIP parking across the street behind the Encinitas Fish Shop (if needed) with quick access from 3rd street
2. St. Tropez sandwiches and treats
3. Starbucks coffee and/or tea
4. An amazing view of the parade
5. A small narrative of who you are, your local business, and holidays wishes (if you so desire:)
6. A priceless experience


You will want to do it again next...it's that fun.
