The Sargent Art Group will present its inaugural art exhibit entitle “Local Sights, Local Color” at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe Gallery in Vista from April 3 until May 3. Works that explore a wide range of styles in oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography and three-dimensional pottery, glass and fiber art will be showcased. Sargent Art Group, named number one in North San Diego County in 2013, is composed of both professional, emerging artists and patrons of the arts. The group was founded by the late J. McNeil Sargent an internationally recognized artist who traced her roots to painters John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) and James McNeil Whistler (1834-1903).
The Rancho Buena Vista Adobe is one of the best preserved of the San Diego County land grant Ranchos, deeded in 1845. The entire facility imparts a sense of history and an aura of the romance of early California. In 1989 the City of Vista purchased the property across the street from the new Vista Civic Center Complex and Library. The Adobe gallery was once the Casitas for the parents of the owners. It’s open from 10-3pm Thursday through Saturday. The Gallery is located at 640 Alta Vista Way, in Vista. From the 78, exit Civic Center Drive Northbound and follow it to Alta Vista Drive. Turn Right on Alta Vista Drive. Free parking in the City Hall lot on the right. Cross Alta Vista drive and enter the Iron Gates to the Gallery.
