Calling All Artists: The “Berry” Best Poster Contest Has Arrived, Vista, CA

Calling All Artists: The “Berry” Best Poster Contest Has Arrived!

Vista, CA … Artists looking to demonstrate their good taste and delicious artistry need look no farther than the Vista Strawberry Festival Poster Contest sponsored for the fourth consecutive year by ArtBeat on Main Street Gallery and Wine Lounge, 330 Main Street, Vista. Contest guidelines are simple: art should reflect the “flavor and spirit” of the annual Strawberry Festival, which takes place this year on May 29, 2016. Information and applications are at http://artbeatonmainstreet.com/strawberry-poster-contest-info/.

The entry deadline is 5 pm on May 6, 2016. The top three pieces will be displayed at ArtBeat on May 20, 2016, when the winners will be announced and cash prizes ($250, first place; $175, second; $100, third; $25, people’s choice) awarded. The first-place artwork will be featured on the poster and collateral publicity for the 2017 Vista Strawberry Festival.

ArtBeat Owner Kait Matthews notes, “The Gallery has sponsored the poster contest since its inception. We enjoy giving back to the community, we are delighted that art is part of the Festival, and we love showcasing local artists.”

Vista resident Alice Picado’s “Strawberries on Main Street” poster of oversized luscious berries being delivered in an old-fashioned pickup truck to downtown Vista won the hearts of the judges in the inaugural poster contest and set the bar high for the annual display. Vista businessman John Alesi captured first place in 2014 with his droll, surrealistic “Straw Man.” Vistan Pamela Becraft’s 2015 first-place whimsical artwork decorates the this year’s advertisement.

Describing each of the three winning posters to date as uniquely delightful and very “Vista” in design, Matthews says, “This year, we hope to see many colorful depictions of the celebration, which harks back to Vista’s history as the self-proclaimed Strawberry Capital of the World.”

” Before and after the concert, guests can mingle with Albright and view her photography exhibit while enjoying a glass of wine or craft beer plus light fare and browsing the Gallery’s ever-changing panorama of diverse, reasonably priced pieces produced by local artists. Albright reports, “I am so excited and happy to be part of the ArtBeat family!”

They eagerly look forward to seeing longtime and new fans at what Lafe calls “an incredible venue – love the vibe!”
