Color Splash 7 art exhibit at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa, Saturday November 16, from 9am to 4pm. 

Nine local artist from the Sargent Art Group will be exhibiting fine and collectable art on the Resort Promenade.  Works in oil, acrylic and watercolors can be viewed along with pottery, photo illustrations, glass art plus other interesting artisan items.   Works of art aren’t just for show.  Viewed in the right way they can help deal with life’s desires for material things, to learn from others, our longing for love, and our need for beauty.  Live through your eyes. 

Participating artists are: Rosemary Valente, Karen Fidel, Carol Korfin, Diane O’Connell, Kathleen Hamilton, Lynn Ely, Joanne Greene, Rina Torri, and Lijun Yang.

culture and creativity. Innovative artists will be enlightening your life from the moment you arrive! This artwork is being showcased at the Seaside Bazaar in Encinitas on Sat., Nov. 30th from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Friday’s at the Foundry: Shari Roberts, November 8, 2013 - Carlsbad, CA

Carlsbad, California- Friday’s at the Foundry, featuring artist Shari Roberts, on November 8th from 6-8 pm, is an art party hosted by the fifteen resident artists of New Village Art’s Foundry Art Studios. Shari Roberts has mastered the craft of taking common furniture and transforming it into works of fine art. Her creations range from bright, joyful color palettes to incorporation of animal patterns and miniature illustrations. The evening will boast fresh art, live music and fun for all ages within the creative atmosphere of the artists’ studios! There will also be an interactive community art project. About the featured Artist, Shari Roberts:

After graduating with a BS degree in Biology, Shari Roberts attended Parsons School of Design for Interior Design. She became an Allied Member of ASID and worked in the field of contract Interior Design for 27 years in New York. In 2010 Roberts was honored to have had a show at the Walter-Kornbluth Gallery in Fairlawn, NJ. During her tenure, she took classes in different techniques of Faux Painting Finishes to incorporate into her design work. Painting on walls lead to Furniture Refinishing. Upon arriving in Southern California, one of Robert's goals was to find a studio to be able to work and show her art while connecting with like-minded artists. For a Special Talk on Contemporary Photography

This will be a "must see" presentation for collectors of photography as well as
artists working toward being shown in high-end galleries or museums.

Where: San Diego Art Institute, in Balboa Park
Cost: Free
Julia Dolan, the Minor White Curator of Photography at the Portland Art Museum, will describe the curatorial process for selecting this year's exhibition. She will discuss how the works selected relate to the dynamic field of contemporary photography today. The presentation will include projected images using a high resolution digital display. We are expecting a very full house, so please arrive a few minutes before 11:00 am.

The Complete Frida Kahlo: Her Paintings. Her Life. Her Story. The Exhibition, Oct. 19 - Jan 10. 2014

Experience the rich and colorful life of "Frida Kahlo" in  making its U.S. premiere in San Diego from October 19, 2013, through January 10, 2014.

This is the only exhibition worldwide where  you can see all of her paintings in one

Place . Some paintings, especially from Kahlo’s early years, have never before been

seen.  Presented by Global Entertainment Properties1, LLC  (GEP1), the exhibition features123 replicas of her known paintings in original size and original materials and

Hand -painted in the same style as Kahlo painted them.

Also on display, over 500 fascinating possessions identical to those Kahlo surrounded herself with.  All are handmade using traditional methods, materials, and tools. 

Photos of Kahlo, her family, and friends  in her work and life environments.

The exhibition is on display in historic Barracks 3 at the NTC Arts & Culture District in Liberty Station, 2765 Truxtun Road, 92106. Open Tuesday through Sunday.  Audio guides are available in English and Spanish.  Tickets range from $12.50 to $16.50 and are on sale at the door or online (October 3).
