LeucadiART Walk Accepting Artist Submissions

Leucadia 101 Main Street Association is now accepting applications from artists to be juried for the ninth annual LeucadiART Walk, which will be held on August 25 from 10 am-5 pm.

Artists who would like to participate need to send in samples of their work by May 25 along with their applications. Applications can be downloaded from the Leucadia 101 Main Street website: http://www.leucdia101.com, under the heading Special Events, then look for LeucadiART Walk.

Join us for this fun and innovate approach to painting.  Based on integrating the creative spirit with the solid knowledge of tools and techniques.  Most of us let our minds get in the way of our artists eye.  We paint what we expect to see. 

In this workshop you will learn; How to observe, identify and mix any color in the world and make it “sing”.  Each student will receive hours of individual instruction and evaluation.

Chris McCaw: The Sunburn Project

Join us on the evening of May 3rd for a special lecture by San Francisco based photographer Chris McCaw, who will be speaking about his innovative Sunburn project. In this body of work, begun in 2003, McCaw creates images by allowing the sun to burn its path onto a paper negative during a long exposure, using the camera as a tool for both creation and destruction. The lecture will be followed by a signing of McCaw's most recent book, Sunburn.

About the Photographer:

Chris McCaw was featured in MOPA's 2010 exhibition, State of Mind: California Invitiation. He has been widely exhibited and his work can be found in the collections of the Museum of Photographic Arts, Victoria and Albert Museum, George Eastman House, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among others.

Felix Bonomo's, "Faces of Buddah" Exhibit in Vista, CA

Felix Bonomo's photographic exhibit, "Faces of the Buddha", April 27-28, noon - 6:00pm at the Vista Buddhist Temple, Cedar Street, Vista. The images deal with the differences various cultures in Asia depict the Buddha.
