SAVE THE DATE: Encinitas Day of the Dead Festival, It Takes A Village!


The 20 member organizing committee for Encinitas Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is hard at work planning the 6th annual free event, set for Saturday, October 26, from 12-4pm, at the Encinitas Community Center (1140 Oakcrest Park Drive).

This year, 4,500 people are expected to attend the celebration of Latino culture with 4 hours of awesome Folklorico and Mariachi performances, art-making workshops, low rider car show, community Ofrenda, artist demos, opportunity drawings (including laptops!), food trucks and more.

Pictured are representatives from Encinitas Friends of the Arts, Mano a Mano Foundation, San Dieguito Art Guild, San Dieguito Academy, San Diego County Office of Education, San Dieguito Alliance for Drug Free Youth and the City.

CALL TO ARTISTS for Moonlight Beach Bash, September 29, 2-5pm


PROSPECTUS:

Vendors/Artists, we are seeking 2-dimensional and 3–dimensional works in any media for the Moonlight Beach Bash on September 29, 2018. A Selection Committee will review all submissions with consideration of multiple mediums viewed to show a variety of works. Space is limited. No glass products on the beach, please.

Requirements:

• Please submit via email for review, 4 images of your works to be sold
• Vendor must submit an active Sellers Permit #.
• After acceptance, you will be notified and Vendor’s fee of $30.00 is required tin      advance to secure your Vendor space. No refunds.
• Vendor must sign a Hold Harmless Waiver.
• Vendor assignment location is right off the sidewalk, 6" onto the sand.

• No commission to City of Encinitas. 
• Vendor must have their own 10X10 booth setup, table and chairs.
• Parking will be provided for Vendor.

CALL FOR ARTISTS - Performing Arts Workshops - FIRST FRIDAYS, Encinitas

Performing Arts Workshop (PAWS)


UP FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT? Performing Arts Workshop in Encinitas hosts a monthly event called 'First Fridays,' which brings in artists, dancers, and musicians in order to raise money to create a black box performance space in North County. We have are looking for artists for the following dates: April 6, May 4, June 1.

Here are a few questions and answers you might have:

How is the art presented/what is the staging for their artwork?
Visual artists present their art for viewing between performances. It is staged in the hallway and studios at Performing Arts Workshop. Typically, artwork is hung on the walls or tacked up, depending on how the artist wants to display. Artists may bring their own structure to display large photos (like large style easels).

Are the artists present at the event?
The artists should be present at the event to take part in the evening as a networking opportunity. The artists get free refreshments and the opportunity to meet other artists, dancers, and musicians as well as patrons who attend the event.

What are the hours?
8pm - 10pm, every first Friday of the month.

Is the art a donation?
No. It is displayed during the event and then they may take it back home. Artists are welcome to put prices on it to sell. It is an unpaid opportunity but a chance for upcoming artists to get exposure.

What type of visual art are you seeking? Any

JAN 20 - LOS ANGELES BALALAIKA ORCHESTRA in Encinitas

The Los Angeles Balalaika Orchestra consists of 40 talented musicians who are interested in Russian folk instruments and their unique sound. The Orchestra prepares new material each year and performs an annual full concert in Los Angeles and San Diego. Featured artists are brought by the Orchestra from Kiev, Moscow, or St. Petersburg, Russia, and also include world class artists who now live in the Southern California area. The concert will also feature traditional Russian folk dancers and the gifted soprano Anna Belaya. 

The orchestra's professional directors and arrangers are Iryna Orlova and Anatoliy Mamalyga. Both are graduates of the famed Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music formerly known as the Kiev State (Tchaikovsky) Conservatory.

Proceeds from the concert will assist in the purchase of a concert grand piano for the Encinitas Community and Senior Center, for new artistic programming. For more information, please contact Jim Gilliam.

The public is invited to attend the 5th Annual Encinitas Arts Festival, Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 12:00-4:00pm. RAIN OR SHINE. This year's theme is “World Music” and will feature outstanding ensembles representing diverse cultures and people.

We are partnering with the San Dieguito Academy Foundation and will present the festival at the San Dieguito Academy Performing Arts Center, 800 Santa Fe Drive, Encinitas, CA 92024.

4th Annual Encintas Arts Festival seeking Demo Artists, Exhibitors and Chalk Artists

Join us as we celebrate our 4th Annual Encinitas Arts Festival, March 29, 12-4pm.  We are seeking artists that would like to demonstrate, sell their art  or have an art-workshop,($)
No fees, you must have a canopy (10X10) and you can share.
A really fun filled event!

The Day in Photos at the 3rd Annual Encinitas Arts Festival 2014




The 3rd Annual Encinitas Arts Festival, was held Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the San Dieguito Academy Performing Arts Center.

The San Dieguito Academy Foundation partnered with the City of Encinitas to present the “PASSPORT TO THE ARTS FESTIVAL,” which featured performances and exhibits from all area schools, as well as professional performers and artists from the local arts community.

The Encinitas Arts Festival was funded in part by the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program. The day was filled with music, dancing, art, food and fun! Take a look at the photos at the link below.
