Our April festival, Mission Federal ArtWalk, celebrates 35 years in 2019, so don't miss this massive celebration of art and culture in San Diego filling 16 blocks of the Little Italy district with art, music, dance, spoken word performances and interactive art activities. There are still spaces remaining but they won't last long, so apply today!

Each of these festivals has its own unique palette of visual and performing arts and activities, and each offers a distinctive atmosphere & venue. We are looking forward to some pretty “oz-some” artwork in the Fine Art Exhibit. The Fair theme this year is “Oz-some,” inspired by L. Frank Baum’s classical tale The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Even more exciting, $19,000 in cash and donated awards will be given as prizes.

Bring on Summer! Any piece that features the color "cream" or that celebrates summer in San Diego is eligible.

All 2-dimensional art welcome and any 3-dimensional artwork that fits on a pedestal. Photography and journal pages are also welcomed if prepared for hanging.

All art must be ready-to-hang. Please affix two D-rings on the back of your work as the gallery utilizes a wire hanging system.

CALL FOR ARTISTS - Art on 30th, San Diego

Summer in the City 

...and the living is easy. If you love San Diego summers, this is the exhibition for you. All art that resonates with the "feeling" of our fair city is eligible. Anything that says San Diego summer for you: the fair, a snow cone, the beach, the sun, the flowers, the hot, rich colors, cool jazz, wet dogs, late sunsets, the races - you get the idea! The exhibition will be juried by Robin Sanford Roberts, Scenic Designer, Artist and Professor at USD. The exhibition runs from June 3 to July 1, 2017.

All art must be ready-to-hang. Art pieces must be outfitted with two D-rings affixed to the back of your work (The gallery utilizes a wire hanging system).

Entry fee is $35 (for 1-2 pieces).
Submit art at gallery: May 18th–27th.
Submission deadline: Saturday, May 27th by 4pm.

Rita Shulak one of 30 San Diego Artists Interpret the "California Dream"

L Street Fine Art is proud to partner with Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) in presenting San Diego Dreaming – dual exhibitions featuring the artwork of San Diego artists at both venues.

In complement to California Dreaming: An International Portrait of Southern California, which traveled to Italy in 2014 and remains on display at OMA through March 29, 2015, the two partnering San Diego Dreaming exhibitions showcase a total of seventy San Diego-based artists and their highly individualized interpretations of the “California Dream”. 

Rita is a juried artist who has won first place in several major art competitions. Her painting styles include pointillism, palette knife, brush, finger painting, washes, dry brush and glazes. “I’m a continual student focusing on new designs and techniques of the masters and learning how to free my spirit into a right brain experience. Color is my passion in painting. I love my paintings to have texture, rhythm,  and a luxurious composition. My paintings are heartfelt, and bright."

Corresponding to its international forerunner, the San Diego Dreaming exhibition at the L Street Fine Art Gallery is composed of original contemporary works by 30 San Diego artists that creatively interpret Southern California’s iconic culture. ARTBUZZ1 - The Power of Communcation

Aesthetics, Inc Looking for San Diego Artists

Aesthetics, Inc. is seeking artists who reside in San Diego County who may be interested in providing artwork that evoke messages of hope and healing for a variety of hospital art projects in San Diego county.

Aesthetics is looking for artists, who work in a variety of original media; painting, mixed media, wood, stone, collage, metal and ceramics in two and three dimension. Existing and commissioned artwork will be considered. If presenting previous work as a representation of possible commissions, please note. If selected, most artwork will be hung on walls and placed in public spaces of medical facilities. We are looking for artwork with a demonstrated wholesale value between $2,500 and $25,000 (if selected, pricing need to be substantiated by previous sales).

Please submit up to 25 digital images (jpegs) of past work via email to artlibrarian@aesthetics.net. Make sure that each image is not over 1 megabyte and the preferred size is 7” x 10” at a 150 dpi. In your email, please provide a resume and annotated information about size, media and wholesale price of each piece of artwork being submitted. Label your images with the image number, title and size (ie; 01 Autumn Shores 24x36.jpg).

All inquiries, questions and digital images should be sent to Pam Nickell at artlibrarian@aesthetics.net.  The deadline for submitting is October 15, 2014.

ENCINITAS 2015 CALL FOR ARTISTS - Be Part of the Art

The 2015 CALL TO ARTISTS is open for FREE submission. Each year 46 talented 2D and 3D artists have the opportunity to exhibit in one of three galleries located within the City and we look forward sharing your art with the community.

The process is simple.

APPLY: On the website at: http://www.ci.encinitas.ca.us/index.aspx?page=316. We provide the Instructions and the Application (in a fillable PDF form). Please submit up to 10 JPG digital images of artwork that will be in the exhibit. Email the completed application and JPGs to arts@encinitascalifornia.gov. 

This is a free submission and is juried by the Visual Art Selection Committee, with notifications in October 2014. Deadline to submit will be August 30, 2014, 5:00pm.

ARTBUZZ1 SEEKS Monthly Photography for Newsletter

Hello Creative Souls,

Last month I was seeking a colorful photo for the front of the the ARTBUZZ1 and wanted to depict Spring.

I came across, Billie Day and her photography which caught my eye, (you can see why).  She not only loves color but is a vibrant person herself and a wonderful contributor to the arts. This indeed depicts the theme of Spring!

So I thought, hum....... maybe some other artists might like to be part of the ARTBUZZ1 community?

If you are interested, I like monthly themes and would like to collect them for May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December.  Keeping this simply, I will always place credits to the artworks received and it goes out to over 1800  artists and organizations.

Simple... just send them to me and if chosen, you will be posted!  I like "color, emotion" and what makes a person smile in a blink of an eye.

The Art Glass Guild is a non-profit retail sales gallery. Our studio is run by the artists, each one volunteering to work one day per month. Each artist also donates several hours of their time throughout the year to other non-profit groups as well as some of their artwork which is sold at auctions to help other non-profit organizations.

We are a working studio with a 17" Jen Ken Kiln, for fusing and slumping. An oxygen - propane torch and toolbox bead kiln, for bead making and small hot projects. A light box, glass cutting system, wet grinder, Gryphon wet saw, and foil and lead cutting and burnishing tools, for doing stained glass and mosaics.

We teach classes at Studio 25.  All classes are one on one and geared for you.  There is a single price with no hidden kit fees or extra things to buy. You pick a topic, find a teacher and time and come and have a great time.  We currently offer classes in fusing, stained glass, glass bead making , PMC and also jewelry making.

Lumen Shadows and Chroma, Opening Reception MAR 9 at Mission Trails Regional Park Center Gallery

Three Photographers to Exhibit at Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center

“Lumen, Shadows, & Chroma” an exhibition of awe-inspiring fine art photography of nature scapes by award winning artists Eileen Mandell, Dana Parnes, and Dana Levine runs from Sat., March 1 through Wed., Mar. 28th, from 9 am to 5 pm daily, at Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Art Gallery, One Fr. Junipero Serra Trail, San Diego, CA 92119, with a reception on Sun, March 9th, from 1 - 4 pm.  The exhibition is free and open to the public.

 

The title of the exhibition refers to key concepts crucial to a photographer's vision.  Light, shadow and color portray the subject matter of the exhibition - plants, animals and the sea. Whether in black and white or intense color, high impact or quiet contemplation, all the images in the show communicate a lasting impression on the viewer. 

 

Eileen Mandell, of El Cajon, an East County educator, is well-known for her nature photography and innovative work with an infra-red camera.  She looks for shapes, lines, and patterns to capture detail, express movement, and discover the play of light on the subject.   In this exhibition she will be showing new photographs of horses.

 

Dana Parnes, of Rancho Bernardo, a nationally published photographer, captures breathtaking portraits of nature.  Her work speaks to the heart and expresses her deep passion and artistic vision of the magnificence all around, and within each of us.  In this exhibition she will be premiering exquisite fine-art photographs of the ocean, whales, sunflowers, and more. 

 

Dana Levine, of La Jolla, a retired scientist, has had her work shown nationally. Transforming the world she sees through photography is an exciting, creative adventure for her especially when she encounters tranquil, reflective spaces or people with a  sparkle in their eye.  In this exhibition she will be showing new photographs of plants transformed into symmetrical patterns.  Info contact Dana Levine: danabet@yahoo.com.
